Reading the Sunflowers in September (1990), was nominated for an Irish Times Literature Award; Spiderwoman's Third Avenue Rhapsody was also nominated for an Irish Times Literature Award in 1993, and Unlegendary Heroes appeared in 1998. Selections from her work have been translated into French, Rumanian, and more recently, Chinese. She has translated a selection of work by the Austrian poet Ingeborg Bachmann.
Her new collection of short stories, Storm Over Belfast is published in 2008 by New Island Books.
